RESPONSIBILITIES

The Department of Finance seeks to develop a pool of qualified instructors for possible future openings.

Ranked in Business Week’s Top 100 Undergraduate Programs and by Crain’s Chicago Business as having one of Chicago’s Best MBA Programs, Northern Illinois University is one of the largest public universities in the state of Illinois. Located in DeKalb, NIU is a comprehensive university with about 20,000 students. NIU’s AACSB-accredited College of Business, with 2,500 undergraduates and 1,000 graduate students, is deeply committed to providing a high quality student experience and a productive research environment for faculty. The DeKalb campus is about 65 miles west of downtown Chicago, 60 miles from the O’Hare International Airport, and 40 miles west of Naperville (a community with a school system ranking in Newsweek's 2015 list of America's Top High Schools). The Department’s Masters of Financial Risk Management program is offered in the heart of Chicago’s financial district. MBA courses are also taught downtown as well as at Chicagoland suburban campuses in Hoffman Estates and Naperville.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Candidates must possess (i) a Master’s degree or higher in Finance or a related field from an AACSB accredited institution by the start of employment, and (ii) skills and knowledge related to and/or a successful history teaching our current course offerings which include corporate finance, investments, financial markets and institutions, banking, treasury, personal finance, and risk management.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Preferred candidates will be collegial, have a doctoral degree in Finance or a related field from an AACSB accredited institution by the start of employment, have at least 2 years of recent related work experience, possess a professional designation (e.g., FRM, PRM, CFA, or CFP), be willing to travel internationally, and will possess successful graduate, online, and/or risk management teaching experience.
