The Northern Illinois University Department of Technology invites applications for several anticipated part-time instructor position with specialization in Engineering Management, Industrial Hygiene/Safety, Facilities Management, Manufacturing/Industrial Systems, and Energy Technologies starting August 2016. The individuals selected for these positions will be teaching at the Woodward Technology Center on the Rock Valley College campus in Rockford, IL. The individuals selected will be teaching evening courses in the Departmental Applied Manufacturing Technology program. This Technology program will be part of the new NIU/RVC Engineering and Technology programs, which will offer B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Applied Manufacturing Technology, starting in the fall 2016 semester.


The Department is comprised of 12 full-time faculty members, 400 undergraduates, and 50 graduate students. The total enrollment of the college is about 1600, divided into four departments: Technology, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering. NIU serves approximately 20,000 students with outstanding opportunities and challenges to expand the current academic/industrial/research interactions in the Northern Illinois region.


All candidates must have an earned doctorate or master’s degree in Technology, Engineering, or closely related (by the time of appointment) as well as demonstrated experience in areas of manufacturing and other areas of technology listed above. All individuals should have a strong interest in teaching at the undergraduate level. Teaching responsibilities will include delivery of the department’s required courses in addition to electives in the applied manufacturing technology area.
